Counseling

The Transgender Center of the Rockies offers trauma-informed gender-affirming individual and group counseling for transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive individuals focused on support for mental health and substance use challenges. Our clinicians represent a diverse approach to therapy with various training and backgrounds grounded in trauma-informed care and the shared experience of being queer ourselves. Clinicians work with clients to develop treatment plans to work toward their goals. Payment accepted includes Medicaid, and a sliding scale is offered.

Emotion Regulation Each Monday, 11 am–12 pm VIRTUAL
Facilitated by Max (he/him). The group is for the transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive community, 18 and over. It focuses on coping strategies to help individuals through adversity and change behavior patterns that are not helpful, such as self-harm, suicidal ideation, and substance use. Skills are shared with DBT to build resiliency through distress tolerance and ACT to honor values and commitments and mindfulness practices, reinforcing the mind-body connection. Call the office to complete an intake to access the group’s Zoom link.

Gender Euphoria Each Thursday, 11 am–12 pm VIRTUAL
Co-facilitated by Mouse (they/them) and Emily (they/them)
The group is for individuals 18 and older in the wider trans community and explores gender identity, transition, building resilience, and feeling affirmed in one’s gender. Discussion includes the power of language, self-determination, recognizing strengths, and reframing and overcoming barriers through a trauma-informed lens. These skills identify external factors that impact identity, including transphobia, inequality, and discrimination. The group builds community, connections, and self-care practices. Call the office to complete an intake for access.

TRANSformation and Recovery Each Thursday, 4:45–6:15 pm VIRTUAL
Facilitated by Zyan (they/he/it)
The group is for the 18 and over transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive individuals striving toward recovery from substance use, such as alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, and narcotics. The focus is on providing gender-affirming care and environment while teaching tools and coping skills and creating new beliefs and behaviors. PrEP Navigation

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP, is a medication drastically reducing the risk of contracting HIV. Approved for use by the CDC, PrEP is available with a prescription from a physician. The Transgender Center of the Rockies partners with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Vivent Health, and our sibling organization, Denver Element, to reach out to the LGBTQ+ communities in the Denver area to generate awareness of and navigation for PrEP. Contact Bee the Vibe Program Manager Zack J. (any pronouns) to be connected with PrEP navigation services, (720)-382-5900

TCR offers a one-on-one discussion on PrEP through Denver Element to help individuals decide whether it is a strategy that suits their sexual health life, as well as providing logistical assistance, connecting to care, and funding the cost of medication.

WPATH letters

Clinicians at the TCR can help with the World Professional Association of Transgender Health Standard of Care (WPATH-SOC) letters required by some doctors and medical professionals prior to starting hormone replacement therapy or undergoing gender affirming surgeries. This process looks different for each client, so please get in touch with the office for any questions. We will introduce a WPATH Workshop at TCR to answer your questions and address your concerns with the process. Stay tuned for more details.
